All booked up

July 20th, 2006 | 2 Comments | Posted in Mundane musings

I’ve all booked up for the Scottish Trip (Lancaster next Friday night, Perth on Saturday).

I just hope that Norwhag - Lancaster on Friday night isn’t going to be too stressful. I reckon I can do it in five hours1 … if I’m very, very lucky.

It seems it’s going to be week for travel - I go to London - via Leeds! - on Tuesday for a two night stay, returning home on Thursday evening before setting off for Scotland on Friday evening! I definitely need to have a restful weekend.

I had every intention to go into work today. Honest, I did. I even got an early morning call. A very early morning call, in fact. I even got up and watched Maurice for a few minutes as he had his breakfast.

My mistake, then, was to decide that as it wasn’t yet 7am I could have another 10 minutes on the bed.

1 GoogleMaps reckons it’s a 5h 46m journey so - unless they’ve totally revised their basis for calculations - I should make it easily within 5 hours.

Hello there

So there I was, sitting quietly in the garden, hoping that Henry was going to put in an appearance when there was a clatter and a splashing from the pond and out stepped Maurice, gingerly placing one foot after the other across the lily pads not five yards from where I was sitting.

I know I’ve seen moorhens before on numerous occasions but there’s something very special about having “my” moorhen.

I am a little worried about him as he seems to be all alone in the world with no Mrs Moorhen to keep him company. Poor soul. That said, apart from being rather out of place in a small garden pond, he does seem to be fit and well. I suppose I should just enjoy his company for as long as he decides to stick around.

I could be a doctor

“There’s a virus going around. I recommend that you just rest for a couple of days and come back to see me on Monday if you’re no better.”

But I’ve not been in work this week.

“That’s alright. Self certificates cover the first seven days.”

I wonder why he’s always so loathe to scribble out a sicknote. Still, no sicknote means I can go back if I’m feeling better tomorrow so that’s a Good Thing.

On the subject of waterfowl, I have an appointment to see Dr Quack at 4:20 this afternoon as not even spotting Colin Maurice shifted the feeling ill feeling.

No sign of Colin Coot today but as I was shutting up tonight I spotted a scurying mound crossing the lawn and went to investigate - it was Henry the Hedgehog.

Ah, sweet.

Nice try

First off, an image.

Now let’s test my new Anonymiser plugin: My name is Lionel d'Lion. I used to be Em³. I live in Aaalburgh and work in Norwhag for the Evil Overlords.

That all seems to be working.

Excellent - let’s open the doors, then.

Who am I?

Let me introduce myself.

I am (now) Lionel d’Lion and am the fourth incarnation of Em. Em4, I suppose. You may know me from Criticise Me (where I was The Fat Man and Em²) or possibly A Fresh Start (Em³) but I decided that a fresh start can only last so long and it was time for another change.

And why not?
