And a good thing too

August 25th, 2006 Posted in DoveWatch, Irritants

It’s fortunate that we in the UK do not have the lax “home defence” rules regarding gun ownership that exist (as I understand things) in the States.

Not good for me. No, it’s a good thing from the point of view of the pilot (and passenger) of the microlight with the registration number G-MWLL which has been “buzzing” Aaalburgh this evening, frightening the wildlife and well under what I’d have thought was a safe operating height.

Otherwise, they’d currently be picking bits of buckshot out of their fat arses.

Grrr.

The selfish sods scared off both Colin, Colleen and all their pals leaving poor Rupert and Murdoch to huddle together in the “nest” for protection. Poor things.

Since you have it’s registration - ring round your local flying clubs or complain to the Civil Aviation Authority - we have [HAD!} the same problem with a light aircraft out of Inversneckie - As an ex-ATC, I had a quiet word with the Airport Local Controller, and it moved rather sharply! There are minimum height restrictions for overflying populated areas - of course - it may have been taking aerial photos for some purpose.

Lionel: I saw no sign of a camera, ‘im. They seemed to be looking at a particular property but - to the avian wildlife, at least - clearly resembled a large predator of some sort. I’ll contact the CAA.
