Cromer
After collecting the framed photo of Jølster Lake and dropping it off at rARsh Manor I switched vehicles (there’s no way the print would have fit in the Copen) and set off to the north coast for a return to Cromer.

Were you one of the unlucky bidders (i.e. Alan) or did you just leave it too late to place a bid? Don’t forget that you can always just buy your own photo from my PhotoBox Galleries.
Meanwhile I was woken this morning by a call from my old “friend” Speedy. It seems he’s actually framed something for me, a mere six weeks after I handed it to him. Amazing.
Well done, then, to The Bishop for his winning bid.
All I need now, your eminance, is your choice of photo.
NEW SERIES OF QI. TONIGHT. 10PM, BBC2.
Thank you.
While clearing up (just a little) yesterday I spotted a little something I’d snuck into my trolley while I wasn’t looking quite some time ago but had never got around to actually opening the box.
It’s an A6 USB wireless tablet (just £22.97 at Tesco). Yes, I know that “USB” and “wireless” appears to be a contradiction, but the pen is wireless while the tablet itself is definitely not. I’ve been playing with it a little and while it’ll take a bit of getting used to, it’s a lot easier in graphics packages than using the touchpad.
The second goodie has been at rARsh Manor but is now, sadly, elsewhere. DHL were clearly waiting for the sun to come out before sneaking up and slipping one of their yellow slips through the door.
Ironically, it would be helpful if I had the goodie now so that I could find my way to the DHL depot easily - it’s in an area of Norwhag with which I’m not at all familiar.. Oh well, it’ll be there by 5 o’clock, apparently, so I’d better head back out again.
Toodle pip.
While I remember, please keep an eye on that auction countdown (top right). You wouldn’t want to miss out, would you? I’ll do my best to approve any comment-bids that get sent for moderation so that the latest bid is on view as quickly as possible.
In March there was an article on the BBC News website, “Power from the people“, about microgeneration to which Angela Young, London, commented:
When B&Q starts stocking them they will have arrived.
That day has come, it appears, with wind turbines and solar panels going on sale next week (at about £1,600 although there’s a grant available). In theory, it seems, these devices pay for themselves in 6 to 10 years.
That’s “in theory”, though. According to one consultant quoted by the Observer, “‘We found the performance of them is on average between 10 and 25 per cent of what the manufacturers are claiming”
If that’s the case, though, something that’ll pay for itself in 24 years (at best) is a lot less attractive financially. I’d consider this myself were Norfolk not due to be under water in twenty years’ time (I’ve started a programme to evolve gills, just in case).
Murphy must have thought this would help. It doesn’t. Besides, it’s nothing like it. The headlights are all wrong.
Talking of cars, there used to be an advert with the slogan “The car in front is a Toyota” (penned by Paul Arden, by the way). This I have found to be true - in my case it was an X-reg Corolla dawdling along the lovely, twisty Norfolk lanes, dangnabbit. How’s a chap to have a bit of therapeutic fun with a slowcoach in front of him?
Pftzzz!
All this talk of getting older
It’s getting me down, my love.
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I’m coming down
I had an early morning appointment with Dr Quack to discuss the Episode. Surprisingly (to me, at least) he seemed loathe to recommence the citalopran doses - said that minor episodes are not unknown as the drug’s effects slowly diminish over a couple of months after the last (half) tablet is taken. He could have warned me about this, couldn’t he?
I’m to get out and about over the next couple of days in controlled environments (i.e. places where I can bugger off at any time if things get too much), much as I did yesterday in fact (and I’ve not had umpteen years of medical training), and to see him again next week if things have not improved enough for a return to work.
This, then, is what I shall do. Just as soon as the washing machine’s done its stuff, in fact.
