Orton images

January 6th, 2007 Posted in Visualities

Geren’s been playing with “Orton imaging” so I thought I’d see if I can replicate the effect.

Original images are on the left with the “ortonified” versions to the right.

I’m not convinced I’ve got it. It’s an interesting effect, but I’m not sure how often I’d use it.

I think you’ve done an excellent job! Wonder what the bottom picture would be like with the rocks cropped out?

Great start. The ones that have worked for me the best have been the ones that are a little dark to begin with. For images that are “light,” try only applying the screen to the duplicated image. Also, play with the amount of blur. Sometimes, less is more.

I’ll need to try that. Thanks for the tip.
