Smile and the world smiles with you

March 8th, 2008 Posted in Mundane musings

Since The Decision was made I’ve notice a huge change in my state of mind.

I’ve been bouncy - even skipping around the office at times, and trying (unsuccessfully) to coax others to join in - and generally feeling content within myself.

Now this isn’t the manic side of my “problem” because I know how that feels. I’m beginning to think that work was having more of an effect on me than even I had realised. What’s more, this can clearly be picked up by others, perhaps subconsciously.

Take, for example, Mrs Postie this morning. Or the young lady to whom I offered my seat at the bus stop last night - very unexpectedly flirty, she was - or Stubby … No. On second thoughts forget about Stubby. I can’t make any sense of her at all. We’ll take Mrs B instead. Now she’s suddenly forgotten the very basics of using MS Excel and asks if I can drop by to show her how to do x, y or z. I’m happy to do this because I’m a pleasant, friendly and helpful chap and she’s rather cute but even I was surprised when she felt she had to sit right up against me to see what I was doing - and I do mean right up against me. Very odd.

I can only assume that my natural animal magnetism, suppressed for so long, is rearing its head once again. Oh dear. I’m clearly going to leave a trail of broken hearts in the office …

Can honestly say that self employment was the best decision I ever made. Hope you find it the same liberating experience.
